  3. Drag and drop any wave or mp3 file you want, if you have a ram file, you can read How to convert ram to mp3 tutorial.
  4. What you are seeing now is the waveform of the left and right tracks of your song because it is a stereo file. Click the play button to play the file until you are close to where you want your ring tone to start then click the stop button (The buttons located at the top of audacity).
  5. Now click the Zoom in button and click exactly where you want your mobile ringtone to begin. Use your eyes and the Play button to make sure you are in the right place, you can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard for fine-tuning the location and the space bar to Play/Stop.

  7. You can repeat the same steps, add a label for the ending of your ringtone and select the waveform between the Start and End labels.
  8. If you want your ringtone to fade out at the end, select about 1 minute starting from the Start label and drag your mouse while looking at the status bar located at the bottom of audacity that will show you your selection length so far. The mouse cursor will change to a pointing hand meaning you are in selection mode.
  9. Click Edit > Move Cursor > To Selection End, Press Ctrl+B to add a new label and name it End.
  10. Select about the last 8 seconds before the End label and click Effect > Fade Out. Notice the change in the waveform.
