Modify the Speed of an Avi Video File Using VirtualDub

bitmap_vector (1K)
Learn how to use VirtualDub to modify the speed of an Avi video file and also to change the audio track for free. You want to watch your favorite football goals in slow motion? No problem, just read on.
  1. Drag and drop your video file on VirtualDub.
  2. Click Video > Frame Rate or simply press Ctrl+R.
  3. In the "Source rate adjustment" you should see the current frame rate (25.000 here), choose "Change to" and type a relative number to the current frame rate for example, if the current frame rate of your file is 25 fps and you want to modify your video speed to half speed then change it to 12.5 or 50 if you want double speed...etc.
    modify_avi_speed_01 (10K)
  4. Click Ok.
Now, if you preview your video file, you will notice that the audio is no longer in sync with the video. This is obvious because you have changed the video speed but not the audio speed so the best thing to do is to change the audio track completely (you can add a music track for example), here is how:
  1. Click Audio > WAV Audio and browse to any wav file.
    modify_avi_speed_02 (7K)
  2. Click Video > Direct stream copy and Audio > Direct stream copy.
  3. Press F7 and save your video file.
