Fixing Dark Photos Using Photoshop Levels

fixing_dark_photos_th (1K)
Some times, you see a very beautiful scene; you quickly hold your digital camera and take a picture. You go home, download the pictures taken by your digital camera to your pc but oops, the picture looks too dark because either the flash did not fire or there was not enough light. This sad situation has happened to most of us but do not worry; you could fix this easily using one of the Photoshop very nice capabilities called Levels.
  1. Open your dark photo in Photoshop.

  2. Choose "Create new fill or adjustment layer" > "Levels..." located at the bottom of the Layers window.
  3. In the levels window click Auto.

  4. Some times this is enough for repairing the photo but in most cases, we need more fine tuning for the photo so move the white arrow to the left a little and the middle arrow to the left or the right depending on the picture, keep your eyes on your photo until you get the desired results.

  5. Click ok and save your photo.
