What Is Thumbs.db And How To Get Rid Of It?

Thumbs.db is a hidden file generated automatically by Windows, you will see it in many folders if you have set the "Show hidden files and folders" option in the "Folder Options" window on. All about this file and how to removeit.

Open any folder and click Tools > Folder Options.
Click the View tab from the Folder Options window.
In the Advanced Settings check "Do not cache thumbnails".

You can choose "Show hidden files and folders", search for Thumbs.db files and delete them all, using the previous steps windows will not generate it again.

It will be a little slower if you have a folder with a lot of images and you chose to view it as Thumbnails view.

thanks for this information. but its too difficult to delete all Thumbs.db file from system. so if there is software by which we search and delete it it will be a bit ok.

@Rashid: Without any software you can delete all Thumbs.db in your system. Just go to search it will list all & just delete.

hi, i use revo uninstaller- which has a junk file cleaner-to scan/clean my pc of all junk this may be irrelevant to apriori posters, but may be useful to others, not unlike myself, may read in some future. revo also detects crash dmpsas well. Achtung rashid!
