A Free FTP Client In Your Computer

Many people do not know that they have a free FTP client in their computers! It is not the best but it is free and you can find it almost in every computer with windows. So if you want to upload files to yoursite or just browse some freely available FTP sites, read on.
  1. Double click on My Computer and type the FTP address in the text box labeled Address located on the top of My Computer window or you can do the same in Internet Explorer, type the address like that: ftp://youraddress.com (example: ftp://ftp.linux.com) and press Enter.

  2. If the server allows anonymous access, you will see the folders of the ftp server immediately as if they were folders in your computer. Right click on any folders or files, choose Copy and Paste those folders or files anywhere in your computer or simply Drag and Drop the files you want to download. You can download as many files as you like from the thousands of freely available FTP servers, just search the Internet.

  3. If the FTP server does not allow anonymous access or if you simply want to update your own site, you will get a window asking you to provide the user name and password to access your FTP server. You can also check "Save password" if this is your computer to log on automatically afterwards.

  4. If you have the suitable permissions, you can upload files to your FTP server easily by Dragging and Dropping files just like working with local folders in your computer.
  5. Right click on a file, choose properties and you will be able to change permissions for this file easily.

  6. Select any file or folder and press F2 to rename it.
